Course Description

Across seven sessions, self-motivated young photographers will expand their creative practices and learn from working artists. A combination of guest artist talks, hands-on studio work, collaborative critiques will allow young artists to navigate finding their artistic voices while having a supportive community of peers.

Students will experiment with multiple approaches to image making, such as analog film photography, creative storytelling, versatile practices, while working on their own bodies of work. Throughout the sessions, the students will build a body of work that will be edited, sequenced and collaboratively laid out into a cumulative zine that outlines the theme chosen by students.

This program emphasizes practice, experimentation, and dialogue aspects of the art making process, enabling students to create work, receive feedback and refine ideas. Guest artists introduce students to different photographic practices, while studio time allows them to apply those ideas.

Upon completion, participating students will receive a $100 stipend and a copy of the Fellowship zine they had a hand in curating.
